Nadera began her career in the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Field in 1995. Trained as a Massage Therapist, she realized how much her clients were in need of tools to manage stress more effectively. She saw that many clients regardless of their physical complaints, were moved to book their massage therapy session when their stress became too much too handle. Client after client communicated the same reasons for booking their session. Comments and situations like “I’m stressed out I need to relax...and by the way I fell two days ago and hurt my back” were not uncommon.
The needs of her clients led Nadera to pursue studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Where Massage Therapy was limited, Chinese Medicine seemed to expand treatment options. She worked at fusing the different modalities she learned to help her clients manage the effects of stress on their bodies. Rewarding as her practice was, there was something missing.
Yes, helping clients deal with the effects of stress was one thing. Helping them deal with the cause was another. Knowing that the mind and body were one, she knew that what affected the mind affected the body, and what affected the body affected the mind. After investigating different tools she could add on to compliment her existing practice, she came upon Coaching. Coaching has added another dimension to her practice where both the cause and effects of stress are addressed.
Nadera is founder and director of The Stress Shop and works hard to find harmony in the relationship between her professional and personal life, which includes spending as much time possible with her husband Ed and two daughters, Tedi and Sami.
